As Bernie's campaign burns up in the atmosphere of political reality, Bernie fans should remember that a primary is not actually a constitutional requirement. It belongs to the party. If enough Democrats wanted to, they could nominate my cat tomorrow. This matters

Bernie and his fans seem to think that the Democratic Party owes it to Bernie to let him dog the inevitable nominee all the way to July, as if that's in the Bill of Rights. It isn't. Bernie's not even a Democrat; this is a convenience, not a right. /2

Bernie got a fairer shake than he deserved, considering that he's never bothered to be a member of the party. But hey, he had his say. He lost. Time to let a Democrat lead the anti-Trump coalition.
