ACLU Deputy Legal Director Louise Melling responds to National Archives:— Jake Tapper (@jaketapper) January 18, 2020
“Apologizing is not enough. The National Archives must explain to the public why it even took the Orwellian step of trying to rewrite history and erasing women’s bodies from it, as well as who ordered it."
We have removed the current display and will replace it as soon as possible with one that uses the unaltered image.— US National Archives (@USNatArchives) January 18, 2020
We apologize, and will immediately start a thorough review of our exhibit policies and procedures so that this does not happen again.
You need to make a display of the ALTERED photo NEXT TO the unaltered photo, and an explanation of EXACTLY HOW THIS Happened to US History in January 2020! Exactly WHO ORDERED this alteration and why it was allowed to be done in our precious historical national archives!.— Joshua Tree (@jmwhit47) January 18, 2020
